For more than 30 years, the bright orange “Garfield” phone keep washing up on a beach in France, making the local beach cleaners quite confused. Now the mystery has finally been solved, the original source is a sea container that sank into the sea.

The locals have always suspected that the culprit is a sank container, and the endless stream of Garfield phones has been confusing the public.

It was not until a local person pointed out that after a storm in the 1980s, he discovered the container, therefore solving the mystery; it turned out that the container was stuck in a cave that could only be entered in low tide moment.

When they found the location of the container, they told the French press AFP: “He told us the location of the cave… (the location is) very, very dangerous.”

“We found this unimaginable (cave) crack, 30 meters deep, with container wreckage at the bottom.”

The director of the Iroise Marine Nature Park said: “We don’t know what happened at the time: We don’t know where did it came from, we also don’t know what the ship is.”

“We don’t know how many containers are falling into the sea, or is it the only one.”
